High Pressure Air Floors
-
Once inflated, the high pressure air floor becomes as rigid as the wood floor. You can stand, walk or jump around on it the same way you can on the coated wood floor. Click here for a video clip of the Saturn SD330 with an air floor.
If you plan to inflate and deflate your boat often, the air floor is the best solution for you. With the air floor, there is no need to remove the floor from the boat, ever. Just let the air out and fold it up with the boat!
In addition to being easy to asseble and dissassemble, the air deck models are much lighter than wood deck models. The advantages to that are; easier to get the boat up on a plane, less HP is needed to push the boat, and much easier for one person to move the boat from one place to another. If you plan to store the boat in your RV, the air floor is the lightest and most compact option for you.

Coated Marine Grade Plywood Floors
-
Saturn models SD385 and SD430 come with a heavy duty wood floor. These floors are made with 5/8" marine grade plywood and are coated with a textured resin for durability, longevity, and traction. If you need something a little more "heavy duty", the wood floor models are probably for you. If you plan to keep your boat on a trailer, or just inflated most of the time, you will also want to consider a model with the wood floor. One clear advantage to the wood floor is the ability to mount seating and steering systems directly to the floor. Items such as the unihelm, steering consoles, and storage seats with back rests can be bolted to the floor using stainless hardware.
Assembling the plywood floor can be a bit of a challenge the first time, but with a little practice, it becomes quite easy.

** Max O/B Motor means: maximum power of outboard motor that can be safely used to plane boat loaded to the maximum capacity at the normal water surface condition. Please exercise common sense and caution using maximum motor capacity. Do not jump from waves to waves as new 4-stroke motors are much heavier then 2-stroke and provide extra strain on a transom. Under the normal circumstances, with a half of maximum persons/load capacity, 50% of maximum O/B power rating may be necessary to put boat on plane. |
Benefits of Inflatable Boats vs. Conventional Boats.
(Based on personal experience). |
-
-Conventional hard-hull fiberglass boats are fast and powerful, but with that comes increased maintenance, responsibilities and unavoidable expenses.
-
-If you are new to boating, you will feel “less” overall responsibility while operating a lightweight inflatable boat versus a heavy conventional boat.
-
-Inflatable boats are much more responsive and are easier to handle than heavy conventional fiberglass hull boats.
-
-Inflatable boats come with less worries about hitting other boats, dock objects, scratching or damaging someone else’s expensive property.
-
-Compared to conventional boats, it is much easier to make sharp turns in narrow places, and you can dock inflatable boats almost anywhere.
-
-Inflatable boats are much more buoyant, extremely stable, and almost impossible to overturn, that’s why Navy Seals and the Coast Guard use them.
-
-Lightweight inflatable boats have lower operational expenses because they use much less gas then conventional fiberglass-hull boats.
-
-Minimal draft allows an inflatable boat to reach many shallow places where fiberglass-hull boats would hit bottom.
-
-Conventional boats come with various components that are always breaking such as: steering system, power trim, oil injection, various gauges, etc.
-
-Inflatable boats come with only three components – boat , gas tank and outboard engine, this lowers the probability of something breaking.
-
-Unless you are planning to go far off shore, you can use an inflatable boat to cruise around or fish just as you would with any other full-size boat.
-
-Inflatable boats can go as fast as conventional boats but with lower power rated engines. This will save money on engine and on gas.
-
-Inflatable boats are foldable, portable and require much less storage space than full-size fiberglass boats. No docking or marina expenses.
-
-Much smaller inflatable boats are often rated for the same weight capacity (number of persons) as much larger conventional fiberglass-hull boats.
|
| Strong points of Saturn inflatable boats. |
-
-Cold-welded, virtually indestructible seems that will last for many years.
-
-1100 Dtex PVC fabric that feels much stronger than cheap imitations.
-
-Safety valve that will release excessive air pressure in chambers.
-
-Exceptional quality workmanship unmatched by junk cheap boats.
-
-Clean assembly process. No glue sticking out anywhere.
-
-Double layer of fabric at the bottom of the tubes.
-
-Rub strake protector along the boat keel.
