Saturn PVC Fabric Specs
SATURN inflatable boats and rafts are made of 1,100 Dtex New Generation PVC fabric with a polyester support having excellent resistance to tearing, tension and breaking.
SATURN inflatable boats and rafts are hand-sealed at the seams for perfect seaming-the most expensive and reliable method used today. Each seam is strengthened with four layers of bonded fabric for maximum strength and durability.
|
| PVC vs Hypalon? While Hypalon is a good choice of fabric for inflatable boats that will be used in commercial environments or every day at extreme weather conditions, our PVC fabric is an economical and reliable alternative to more expensive Hypalon. PVC is easier to fix, it holds air better, it costs less, and the new generation of PVC is almost as tough as Hypalon. Hypalon has a very good UV-resistance, however PVC treated with 303 Aerospace Protectant available at West Marine stores will match UV protection characteristics of Hypalon. |

Outside PVC layers offers:
Abrasion resistance;
Extreme condition resistance;
Chemical resistance |
|
|
|
Abrasion resistance:
The chemical formula of the outside PVC layer makes the material abrasive resistant and airtight properties: 200*170 N/5cm(± 20) |
|
Chemical resistance:
Strong resistance to Hydrocarbon, Sunlight, Seawater, Oil and Fuel. Thanks to this properties which protect the material from fading and ageing. |

| PVC or Hypalon? See what inflatable boats leader ZODIAC saying about that: "...PVC coated fabric was even more durable and held air better than Hypalon. PVC is highly resistant to sun and pollutants. PVC is highly resistant to abrasion. PVC is tough and durable...Some of expensive brands's commercial models still use Hypalon, but the company is leading the way to update 1948 military specifications to call for PVC coated fabric. Today, more inflatable boats sold are made of PVC than Hypalon..." Source: www.zodiacmarineusa.com/about/fabrictech.htm |
